Memorial du Martyr Juif Inconnu and the The Centre de Documentation Juive Contemporaine

The Memorial du Martyr Juif Inconnu is situated in the 4th Arrondissement of Paris and is located in a small side near to the Metro station St Paul.

This memorial is classified as a memorial to the unknown Jewish martyr and commemorates all the millions of Jews that died during the atrocities of World War II.

The crypt itself contains ashes from concentration camps, and the Warsaw Ghetto where so many lost their lives during the Holocaust.

At the same location you can also visit The Centre de Documentation Juive Contemporaine, which translated basically means The Contemporary Jewish Documentation Centre that contains more than 400,000 documents.

This is actually an historical research centre that specialises in finding out more about the fate of the Jews during the Second World War where they hold a permanent exhibition that includes old original documents, newspapers, archives, etc plus they hold temporary exhibitions as well.

The Centre de Documentation Juive Contemporaine also hold conferences on the persecution of the Jews and other subjects that are related and is also the contemporary Jewish documentation centre as well.

From a Sunday through to a Friday it is open from 10am through to 1pm and after lunch from 2pm through to 6pm.  It is closed on a Saturday, national holidays and on all Jewish feats and festivals.
